What happens if we stop using leather?
In total, around 24,000 million square meters of leather are produced annually around the world, which are used to make different articles.
• 3.5 billion pairs of shoes
• 16 million car interiors
• 2.8 million sofas
• 40 million clothing articles
• 450 million leather goods.
Without leather, all of these valuable items would have to be made from other materials, such as petrochemical-based polyurethane-coated fabrics or other synthetic materials. These materials have a shorter useful life and therefore require replacement more frequently.
